Scott Foley has been married to his wife, Marika Domińczyk, since June 2007.

The pair have Domińczyk’s sister, Dagmara, to thank for their love story. Best known as Karolina on HBO’s Succession, Dagmara introduced the couple while she was working with Foley on a play.

In a 2019 interview with PEOPLE, Domińczyk revealed her sister was “playing matchmaker” between her and Foley, but the Dawson’s Creek actor was skeptical due to their almost 10-year age gap.

“She was 23 and I was 31. She came in like a bat out of hell,” Foley said. “[She was] this little thing, and [I was] like I don’t know if I can handle that. That was a lot, but she is stunningly beautiful.”

Despite Foley's initial concern, Domińczyk wasn’t deterred.

“We all went out to lunch and my sister already told me he wasn’t into it because I was too young,” she said. “He wanted to pay for my and my sister’s lunch, and I said great, if you pay for this lunch then you have to let me take you out."

“Then I couldn’t get away from her,” Foley responded. The pair married in 2007 and welcomed three children: Malina, Keller and Konrad.

Foley is best known for his recurring roles on Scandal, Felicity and Dawson’s Creek, but his wife is also an actress.

Domińczyk began her career with guest roles on the series The $treet and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and has since appeared in shows like Hawaii Five-0, Inventing Anna, Brothers & Sisters and more.

She and Foley even worked together on one season of the network television show Whiskey Cavalier before it was canceled in 2019.

In an interview with Access Live that year, Foley discussed their experience as costars.

“I was a little nervous about working with my wife as I am sure you guys can understand," he said. "There is home life and there is work life and you like to sort of keep them separate, but we make it work and we love it. We are having a great time.”

She speaks fluent Polish

After Domińczyk was born in Poland in 1980, she, Dagmara and their parents immigrated to the United States.

In 2018, she and Foley moved with their young children to Prague to shoot ABC’s Whiskey Cavalier, and the Scandal star quickly began to rely on Domińczyk for communication.

Three years later, during an interview on The Ellen Degeneres Show, Foley described himself as “illiterate” in the Czech Republic.

“[My wife Marika] is fluent in Polish, so she could understand about 60 percent of what [people] were saying, and they could understand about 80 percent of what she was saying,” Foley explained in 2021. “But it really shifted the power dynamic in our family."

He continued, "I like to think it was like 50/50 before we moved there, and then it was like 99/1 once we did. Because I was like, ‘What did they say babe?’ ”

Domińczyk’s acting chops landed her a spot playing Dr. Eliza Minnick on season 13 of ABC’s Grey's Anatomy.

Her character was eventually fired by Chief Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), which ended Domińczyk’s time on the show. However, the actress has remained thankful for the experience.

"I am totally in awe of the fan base and how strong the fan base is. This show has been on for 13 years,” Domińczyk told E! News in 2017. “People crazy love it. ... It just has a huge, loyal, awesome fan base which I'm so thankful to be a part of the show."

Though they weren’t on at the same time, her husband was also a guest star on the series in seasons 7 and 8. His character, Henry, eventually tied the knot with Dr. Teddy Altman, played by Kim Raver.

Foley and Domińczyk wed on June 5, 2007, in Hawaii.

Even though they don't have many good photos from their special day, Foley told PEOPLE that his memories of the moment are still vivid.

The actor discussed a selfie Domińczyk took the night before their wedding and reflected on why he loves it.

"We were walking back to our hotel room in Lanai and Marika wanted a 'last photo' before we were married," he said. "I've always thought that this really caught the true 'us.' She's so beautiful and I, so in love with her. Just us."

Foley and Domińczyk are parents to three children. Two years after their wedding, the couple welcomed their first child, Malina, on Oct. 24, 2009. Their first son, Keller, joined the family on April 17, 2012. A little over two years later, Konrad was born on Nov. 13, 2014.

Domińczyk and Foley have opened up about how they prioritize family. "I'm a family man," he told PEOPLE in 2019. "The most important thing to me is my kids and my wife.

On the Why Mommy Drinks podcast in 2021, the Hawaii Five-0 actress revealed details about her motherhood experience, including a difficult behind-the-scenes moment.

“I was very fortunate. I had one miscarriage pre-Malina, and then everything after that was fine, natural,” she said. “It was funny because every pregnancy was completely different, but all no surprises ... We have three babies — so fortunate that they are all healthy.”

She describes her love story with Foley as a "fairy tale"

In 2019, Domińczyk spoke to PEOPLE about her life with Foley, touching on their full home with children and pets.

“Looking around at what we made just because we went out on a date. ... Looking around like our kids, the dogs, the cat, the house, for me it is like a fairy tale," she said.

Foley echoed this sentiment, conceding that marriage isn't always easy but that “there’s a level of comfort, of familiarity that we have" because of their longtime bond as partners and parents.

He added, "I know what she is thinking, good and bad, before she says anything and vice versa.”

The Scream actor concluded, “It is a really warm feeling to know I got a person.”

She and Foley moved their family to Connecticut in 2020

After decades of living in Los Angeles, Foley and Domińczyk decided to move to Connecticut in 2020.

My wife grew up on the East Coast and had been longing to return for a while,” the People's Choice Award nominee told PEOPLE in 2021. “I was sort of hesitant because of the nature of what I do and being in Los Angeles has always seemed sort of important."

Foley's mind changed when Malina came home from school and asked her dad why they didn't own a plane.

"I thought, 'Hey babe, it's time to move!' " the actor said. "So that was really the main impetus. Not that they couldn't have a normal life in Los Angeles, but we felt it would be a bit easier to make their lives normal somewhere else.”

Despite the major relocation, Foley said the family quickly began enjoying their new surroundings.

“We really like it. I've lived in L.A. for 30 years and came to believe winter sucks. I'll tell ya, winter's not that bad! We kinda liked it, being inside and hanging out with one another," he said.

In PEOPLE’s 2019 Sexiest Man Alive issue, Domińczyk revealed when she finds Foley the most attractive.

“There are lots of times when I find Scott sexy, but he looks so hot when he woodworks. Just the fact that he can take a piece of wood and build something beautiful, and he's all sweaty, and his biceps [are flexed], it's just all good," she said. "He's actually a jack-of-all-trades. He can fix things like dishwashers and electronics too."

Domińczyk isn’t the only one who reaps the rewards of Foley’s hobby. "Our daughter will ask, 'Dad, can you build a shelf for my stuffed animals?' And it will be done that day. Instant gratification," the actress explained.
