Scott Baio took 5 polygraph tests to refute Nicole Eggert's claims of sexual assault

Scott Baio held a press conference Thursday to further proclaim his innocence in the face of Nicole Eggert’s sexual assault allegations — and he says he has five polygraph tests to prove he’s telling the truth.

In June, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office rejected Eggert’s sexual molestation claims against Baio because the statute of limitations had expired. The 46-year-old actress accused her former Charles in Charge co-star of molesting her in the ’80’s, beginning when she was 14 and he was 25.

Baio has filed a police report against Eggert for harassment.

“She calls me a rapist and child molester almost daily to any audience she can find,” Baio, 57, told a crowd of reporters today, claiming Eggert “started a campaign to harm not just me but my entire family.”

“For months we have proven her story to be 100 percent false by showing one inconsistency after another, but it has not been enough to stop her,” Baio declared. “If anything, it made her angrier.”

Baio accused Eggert of calling his wife Renee’s brain tumor “imaginary” and said she “mocked the loss of our unborn child” and “attacked” the family’s charitable foundation. (In April, Eggert tweeted that the foundation the Baios created to raise awareness for the disease that killed their unborn baby was illegitimate, calling the disease itself is “nonexistent.”)

“I have the resources to fight [Nicole], although I shouldn’t have to,” Baio said. “Most people who have children bullied on social media don’t have these options.”

The Happy Days actor said his purpose was to “put the Nicole Eggert matter to a conclusion.” In doing so, he revealed that he took five lie detector tests from two examiners and passed all of them.

Baio was asked four questions, including “Did you have any kind of sexual contact with Nicole Eggert before she turned 18 years old?” and “Have you ever threatened Nicole Eggert that she needed to keep your alleged sexual contact with her a secret?” Baio responded “no” to all of them. In an attempt to put the other accusation of sexual harassment and abuse from his Charles in Charge co-star to rest, was also asked whether he had ever exposed his genitals to Alexander Polinsky, and he answered “no” to that as well.

Yahoo Entertainment received copies of two of the polygraphs from Baio’s team, which confirm that the actor passed with no deception.

“I’ve done nothing wrong, and this person has a fixation,” Baio claimed. I went to the police because I want this to end.” He said he could “only guess” what Eggert’s motives to lie would be. “Notoriety, money — maybe she wanted me to pay her off at some point,” Baio mused. “I don’t know.”

During the Q&A portion of the press conference, Baio was asked: “What’s next?”

“I’m gonna go home and go for a swim,” he joked before he was urged by his team to give a real answer.

“Hopefully, with all this information that we have, the fact that the police never talked to me (I’m assuming because of the mountain of evidence that we gave them), with the polygraph … that it’s over,” Baio said. “What else can [Eggert] say? Polygraph, evidence — [she] got caught 50 different ways not telling the truth. Unless she wants to fabricate something else I didn’t do…”

Baio was also asked why he isn’t going after Eggert for libel if everything she claims is untrue.

“My wife might go after her,” he responded. “I want to just enjoy my life. I don’t want to be two to three years in a courtroom giving this person exactly what she wants — more notoriety, more exposure… I’m going to be 58 years old this September. I have a wonderful life. I want to live it.”

Yahoo Entertainment reached out to a representative for Eggert for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
