The acquisition is the first step in Scooter's takeover since becoming chief executive of HYBE America in January 2023. HYBE is a mega brand that manages huge K-Pop groups like BTS. Scooter spoke with The New York Times detailing the monster deal, saying, “QC is one of the most significant independent labels in the world." Adding, "They not only distribute music, but they also distribute culture. Their artists are the voices of their communities."

Hybe is interested in expanding its musical reach, its current focus is on K-Pop but hopes to get into the hip-hop and American pop space.

Quality Control Music Has The Biggest Artists In The Game

Scooter is a smart man, the music executive is acquiring a label that is dominating the industry with artists like City Girls, Bank Roll Freddie, Lil Baby, and Migos. The record label was founded in 2013 and was able to capitalize on social media to push its artists into the stratosphere.

In all, the massive deal is worth reportedly $300 million.

They owe their success to the catchy bop “Bad and Boujee,” by Migos, and Lil' Baby has over 37 billion streams alone, so, yeah, they know what they’re doing. Scooter is following their lead and allowing the duo to stay on and run the label.

Quality Control Is Following Scooter Braun’s Lead

Pierre and Coach K are excited to receive guidance from a mastermind like Scooter and shared their thoughts and plans with The New York Times. “We want to take our brand worldwide and need partners with mindsets like ours — ground up, self-made, and building companies from nothing.”

Pierre went on to say, “All of HYBE’s leaders are entrepreneurs with track records for finding, growing, and amplifying their talent globally.” The executives are still concerned over the Migos and how the group will be moving forward after the passing of Takeoff.

They are one of the biggest money makers for the label and prior to Takeoff’s murder, the group was struggling and not making music together.

There Is A Conflict Of Interest

The only issue left is getting Cardi B's husband -- Offset -- back with the group. As you know, the rapper is suing Quality Control for the ownership of his solo music and his ex-bandmate Quavo is managed by SB Projects, another company owned by Scooter and Hybe.

Other bigger companies are also buying smaller companies in a similar slick move like Scottie. Warner Music Group bought 300 Entertainment, Sony bought part of Alamo Records. It’s the new norm.
