ScHoolboy Q is ending his hiatus and gearing up for his next album. The Los Angeles rapper announced his forthcoming project Blue Lips will come out on March 1.

The Top Dawg Entertainment signee shared a promotional trailer on Thursday (Feb. 1) which shows a camera zooming in on what appears to be a film studio loaded with people and a golf cart. The focal point of the trailer is a large white tapestry which seemingly includes the titles of the album’s 17 records. Some are difficult to make out, but others are clear, namely “Time Killers,” “Cooties,” and “Germany ’86.”

The trailer closes with the album title, written definitions of what it means, and the phrase used in example sentences. “adj. 1. speechless, especially as the temporary result of shock or some strong emotion. 2. (of a person or mood) shocked, speechless, or embarrassed; the crowd gave me blue lips […] n. 1. a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something. 2. coon; they were coonin. v. 1. become fully aware of (something) as a fact; understand clearly.” Check out the trailer below.

This is an exciting time for ScHoolboy Q fans, as Blue Lips will close off a nearly five-year album hiatus. In April 2019, he released CrasH Talk. The 14-track LP featured Travis Scott, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, 6LACK, Kid Cudi, Ty Dolla $ign, and YG.

He hasn’t been totally gone; in October 2023, Q appeared on T.F.’s single “Hooty.” The year prior, he shared the loose single “Soccer Dad.” The 37-year-old rapper took up golf in the last few years and even starred in the PGA Tour 2K23 trailer alongside Tiger Woods in August 2022.

In September 2023, he gave his flowers to former labelmate Kendrick Lamar. “Dot taught me so much, bro,” he said during his appearance on the BACKONFIGG podcast. “Dot… Dot gave me… Dot gave me so much confidence. Dot made me a rapper. This sh*t make me want to cry right now.” Listen below.
