Scheels' newest sporting goods store opens soon in Arizona. Here's when and where

Scheels, a popular Midwestern sporting goods retailer, is set to open its newest store — and first Arizona location — in September 2023.

The Scheels store coming to Chandler will have 75 specialty departments where outdoor enthusiasts and sports fans can shop, and it will be a destination for family fun with games, an aquarium and a Ferris wheel.

Here's everything we know about the new Chandler Scheels store, including where it is, when it opens and what shoppers can expect to find inside.

When will the Chandler Scheels open?

The store will open to the public on Sept. 30, 2023.

Where is the new Scheels in Chandler?

Scheels will occupy 220,000 square feet in Chandler Fashion Center. The store has taken over the space where Nordstrom used to be.

Is Scheels still hiring?

The retailer expects to have 500 people on staff in its new Chandler store, including cashiers, salespeople, stockers and Ferris wheel attendants. Many positions are still open; go to www.scheels.com/careers.html.

What does Scheels sell?

Scheels, based in North Dakota, sells a wide variety of clothing, sports gear and outdoor items:

  • Apparel.

  • Fitness equipment.

  • Footwear.

  • Hunting and fishing supplies.

  • Home and cabin merchandise.

  • Sports gear.

The Chandler Scheels also will have a Ferris wheel, a 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium, a wildlife mountain and Fuzziwig’s Candy Shop. You'll be able to grab a bite at Ginna’s Café and have some competitive fun with the arcade games and sports simulators.

Chandler Scheels will also have a repair shop for sporting goods.
