Scheana Shay: Ariana Madix on Dancing with the Stars Was ‘Punch to the Gut’

Ariana Madix being chosen for Dancing with the Stars Season 32 was monumental for her. However, despite the accomplishment’s grandeur, it wasn’t all a celebration for Scheana Shay.

The Vanderpump Rules alum was perhaps at her lowest point after being cheated on by Tom Sandoval. But it didn’t take long for her to pick up the pieces as opportunities came knocking at her door. However, with some of these opportunities, viewers couldn’t help but wonder if Ariana had truly earned them.

Like with Chicago, for example. Did Ariana deserve the role of Roxie Hart over other trained actors? (Yes). But still, DWTS made more sense; ABC is always trying to pick hotly-discussed celebrities for the show. That didn’t soften the blow for Scheana. DWTS was HER thing. Or so she thought.

Scheana wanted Dancing with the Stars for herself

In a preview for next week’s VPR episode, fans saw Scheana sit down with Lisa Vanderpump to discuss the dynamics between herself, Sandoval, and Ariana. Scheana admitted that she felt she couldn’t talk with Ariana because of the media storm constantly surrounding her. Amid these conflicting feelings, Scheana found out through Daniel Wai about DWTS.

Lisa hung her head in her hands saying, “Oh my God. When I did Dancing with the Stars, you said to me ‘That’s what I want more than anything.’” Scheana confirmed that was true. She added that she began taking dance classes that same year just in case she did get the coveted position on the competition show.

She admitted to the cameras that she was happy for Ariana but “sad for me at the same time.” Scheana told Lisa, “It was kind of a punch to the gut, for sure.” However, with a bit of shade, she added in her confessional, “She has come such a long way from being my backup dancer.” Lisa encouraged Scheana to change her story and be honest with Ariana.
