Scarlet Lane Brewing Company closes its Irvington location a year after opening

Scarlet Lane Brewing Company will shutter its Irvington location less than a year after opening.

A spokesperson for the tap house and pizza parlor made the announcement Tuesday on social media, citing it as a "difficult decision" but one made to due to market challenges after the coronavirus pandemic. Here's what we know.

This is the third such closure for the company in less than two months. In December, Scarlet Lane announced the shuttering of its tap house and pizza parlor on the near northside as well as its beer and calzone kitchen in SoBro.

Why did Scarlet Lane in Irvington close?

Tuesday's announcement stressed the decision to close the horror-themed brewery in Irvington, widely known for its Halloween celebrations, had nothing to do with a lack of community support.

"We’ve had a blast being in the neighborhood," a spokesperson said, adding "It's really rough out there right now for many industries, the brewing & service industry especially are dealing with headwinds never seen before coupled with a devastatingly slow January across the industry."
