Saweetie had the last laugh!

The "My Type" rapper, 30, went viral on Tuesday after taking on hosting duties during the pre-show at the 2023 MTV VMAs red carpet — and for having a few mishaps as she tried to read off an apparent teleprompter.

During a now-circulating clip, she and co-host Dometi Pongo kicked off the pre-show, as he asked Saweetie how she was doing. After a brief exchange with Pongo, Saweetie stared at the camera without speaking for a couple seconds, when her co-host gave her a look to continue.

"Oh, I am so excited for tonight, too, and can't wait to see the fashion on some of my friends," she said in response. The clip has since earned over 30,000 likes on X, formerly Twitter, as of Tuesday night.

In another clip making its way around social media, Saweetie also slips up on her words, but smiles and brushes it off like a pro.

Still, she wasn't going to let a little slip-up stop her. When it was finally her time to speak again — this time presenting a performance from Stray Kids during the main show — Saweetie came prepared.

"Hey what's up, y'all. It's me again, and y'all better stop making my lil' stutter video go viral, I see what you're doing," she said. "Anyways, let's try it again." Her introduction went flawlessly the second time around.

On top of Saweetie's viral moment and bounce back, the 2023 VMAs were a big night for women in rap. The event featured performances from Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B, and even Nicki Minaj, among others.

For Nicki's performance, the rap queen came ready with two tracks: her latest single "Last Time I Saw You" and an unreleased cut from the upcoming, long-awaited LP Pink Friday 2. "MTV, it wouldn't be right if I didn't give y'all a Pink Friday 2 exclusive," Minaj announced before hopping into the new song.

Minaj is also expected to return for another performance with some other rap heavyweights to honor the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. Other performers Tuesday included AnittaDemi LovatoKarol GOlivia RodrigoSean “Diddy” Combsand Shakira.
