Saved by the Bell Star Dustin Diamond Hospitalized with Mystery Illness

Saved by the Bell's Dustin Diamond has been hospitalized, PEOPLE confirms.

"Dustin is in the hospital and the medical teams are doing tests to find out more," a rep for Diamond says. "Everyone is hoping for a speedy recovery."

According to TMZ, which first reported the news, Diamond, 44, was admitted to a hospital in Florida over the weekend after experiencing pain all over his body.

Diamond is best known for playing the role of Screech in the 1990s teen sitcom Saved by the Bell. Though the show has made a comeback with the recent reboot on NBC's Peacock, Diamond was not involved in the new series.

The actor, the only one of the six core cast members to not appear in some capacity in the revival, spoke to TMZ about his absence in February.

"It's something we put so much time and effort into," the actor said at the time. "How do you have Saved by the Bell without Screech? Right? I mean, it seems like there's a missed opportunity there."

Elizabeth Berkley, who reprised her role as Jessie Spano for the reboot, discussed Diamond during a November appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. She shared that she's not sure if Diamond will come back if there's another season of the Peacock series, though she added that there's no bad blood between the pair.

"I don't know if he will make an appearance," Berkley, 46, told host Andy Cohen. "We'll see if there's another season, maybe it's something to explore."

The actress noted that she hasn't been in contact with Diamond since the original Saved by the Bell wrapped in 1993. She and their other original castmates — Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen and Lark Voorhies — have stayed in touch, she said.

"I haven't talked to him in a long time — I think since we finished the show is the last time I actually spoke to him," Berkley said. "But not because of anything bad, I mean, he was always nice to me and he's had his journey, but really I've kept more in touch with Mark-Paul, Tiffani, Mario and then, from time to time, Lark."
