Savannah Chrisley is in a new relationship.

In September 2023, PEOPLE broke the news that the Chrisley Knows Best alum is dating former football player Robert Shiver.

Her newfound relationship comes three years after she and ex-fiancé Nic Kerdiles parted ways in 2020 following their two-year engagement.

Shiver made headlines in July 2023 after he survived an alleged murder plot involving his ex-wife, Lindsay Shiver. The former beauty pageant queen and Auburn University cheerleader from Thomasville, Georgia, and her alleged boyfriend were accused of plotting to kill Shiver with the help of a hitman.

He works for an insurance company

Shiver is from Thomasville, Ga, where he has served as senior vice president at Senior Life Insurance since 2009, according to the company's website.

He played football at Auburn University

Prior to working for the insurance company, he played football for Auburn University. He started as a walk-on before earning a three-year scholarship for the Auburn Tigers, ultimately being named team captain by his senior year. According to his bio on Senior Life Insurance's website, he had an opportunity to advance to the NFL and play for the Atlanta Falcons.

He married Lindsay Shiver in 2007

Like Shiver, his ex-wife, Lindsay, is also from Thomasville and went to Auburn University, where she cheered for the school's team.

In 2005, she was named Miss Houston County, coming in second in the National Peanut Festival pageant that year, per CBS42.

The two tied the knot in 2007 and later welcomed three children together.

He survived an alleged murder-for-hire plot

Lindsay, along with her alleged boyfriend and alleged proposed hitman in the Bahamas, are accused of plotting to kill Shiver.

Per Bahamas Court News — who reported the story on July 28, 2023 — the trio were arrested by police in Abaco, Bahamas, where the former married couple shared a home. Law enforcement made the arrest after discovering a chain of WhatsApp messages that laid out the alleged plot to kill Shiver while investigating a July 16 break-in at Grabber’s Bar and Grill on Guana.

Lindsay and her alleged accomplices have since been released on bail.

He's a dad

During their time together, Shiver and Lindsay welcomed three children. With her boyfriend's kids in mind, Chrisley said that she was keeping details about the alleged murder plot involving Lindsay private when speaking on Nick Viall's The Viall Files podcast in September 2023.

“There’s kids involved,” Chrisley said during the episode. “I just have so much respect for them that I would never say, ‘This is what happened. That’s what happened.’ That’s for them to talk about when they’re ready to talk about it.”

He and Chrisley were first linked in September 2023

In September 2023, a source exclusively confirmed to PEOPLE that Chrisley and Shiver are dating. While many details about their relationship remain private, the TV personality shed light on their romance when speaking on The Viall Files podcast.

"This guy that I'm talking to, his wife just tried to kill him. ... It was a thing," Chrisley said. "He's a normal person and I love it."

Later that month, the pair were photographed at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Chrisley debuted her romance with Shiver on Instagram in November 2023.

"Sometimes… it just works," she captioned a series of PDA-filled images.

Shortly after posting the photos, the reality star faced a bit of backlash. Several fans felt that Chrisley should still be mourning the death of her ex-fiancé, Nic Kerdiles, rather than celebrating her new relationship.

“I just wanted to hop on here and clear up some misconceptions. I posted those photos last night, and obviously tons of positive comments, but there’s also a lot of comments about Nic and I,” she said in a video. “I just want to say, Nic and I have been broken up for a long time. We got engaged, called off the engagement, tried to date, tried to stay in each other’s lives, and it just didn’t work out. We loved each other more than anything in this world, but it just didn’t work.”

Chrisley added: “In January [2023], we finally just cold turkey stopped talking in general. So, Nic and I were not together. We had not been together in…two years maybe?”
