Savannah Chrisley intends no shade toward her late ex Nic Kerdiles when showing off her new man Robert Shiver.

The Chrisley Knows Best star took some heat over the weekend after posting PDA-filled pics with Shiver on Saturday — nearly two months after the death of her ex-fiancé.

“I just wanted to hop on here and clear up some misconceptions. I posted those photos last night, and obviously tons of positive comments, but there’s also a lot of comments about Nic and I,” Chrisley, 26, said in a video uploaded to her Instagram Story. “I just want to say, Nic and I have been broken up for a long time. We got engaged, called off the engagement, tried to date, tried to stay in each other’s lives, and it just didn’t work out. We loved each other more than anything in this world, but it just didn’t work.”

Chrisley also went into detail about when exactly her post-split friendship with Kerdiles ended, explaining, “In January, we finally just cold turkey stopped talking in general. So, Nic and I were not together. We had not been together in…two years maybe?”

Ahead of Kerdiles’ untimely death, Chrisley said they were both seeing other people. “We had both moved on. I was happy for him and it’s just part of life. Like I said, I have nothing but love and respect for Nic and his family.”

Kerdiles died in a motorcycle accident on Sept. 23 at the age of 29. Though Chrisley has spoken publicly about their relationship hardships, she honored him in an Instagram post after his death. "We had some really great, bright moments, and we had some really hard ones," she wrote, in part, on Instagram, "but the part of our relationship I will hold on to will always be the moments in the middle."

Chrisley has now given fans a glimpse into her new relationship with Shiver. Alongside the Instagram explainer, she shared two photos of her and the former football player with a quote about moving forward. “You deserve to be happy. You deserve to live a life that lights you up. Don’t ever forget that,” she captioned the pics, attributing the quote to Coco Calla.

Earlier this week, Chrisley went Instagram-official with Shiver when she posted a photo of them kissing. “Sometimes… it just works ❤️ #THTD,” she captioned.

Before PEOPLE broke the news in September that Savannah had started dating the ex-football player, Chrisley had only ever shared a photo of the pair holding hands on her Instagram Story.

Shiver, 38, previously made headlines after his wife, Lindsay Shiver, allegedly plotted his murder alongside two co-conspirators. It is still unclear whether Lindsay has entered a plea.
