'Saturday Night Live' #TBT: Before Eminem was a star

This week’s Saturday Night Live will be a rapper’s delight, with Chance the Rapper hosting and Eminem as the musical guest.

It’ll be Chance’s first time hosting (he’s performed on the late night sketch show several times), and Eminem’s sixth visit to Studio 8H. The latter has never appeared in a sketch, though he has been impersonated by cast members through the years.

The most recent one was Taran Killam in a 2014 episode hosted by Drake. In the sketch “Before They Were Stars,” Kenan Thompson’s Sway unearths clips of top hip-hop artists who acted on screen before they became famous as musicians (much like Drake himself, in real life).

Killam nails Eminem’s shouty, angry line delivery in a clip from Felicity showing his “softer side.” When Felicity wavers on which of two guys to choose, Eminem barks, “Choose yourself!”

Solid advice!

SNL airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
