‘Saturday Night Live’ #TBT: Don’t Mess With the Beygency

Big changes are coming to Saturday Night Live for its 42nd season this fall. Not only are veteran cast members Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah leaving, but the show has named two new co-head writers — Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider.

The two have been around since 2011, and they’re responsible for many beloved sketches, including the Emmy-nominated “(Do It on My) Twin Bed,” “Bar Talk” with Hillary Clinton, and “Bern Your Enthusiasm” with Larry David as Bernie Sanders. Kelly and Schneider are also responsible for this gem from 2014: “The Beygency.”

In the digital short, host Andrew Garfield plays a hapless dude who admits, out loud, that he isn’t a huge fan of Beyoncé’s “Drunk in Love.” His friends gape in horror, and then the lights go out. “They’ve come for him,” one gasps.

From there, Garfield is chased by ominous men in black suits. He’s taken aside by Jack Bauer and Chloe from 24, who try to help him disappear … but even they are no match for the Beygency!
