‘Saturday Night Live’ #TBT: ‘Aziz Ansari’ Buys a Jacket
Aziz Ansari is one of the most distinctive comedians around. His voice, his mannerisms, his word choices all make him unique and hilarious, whether he’s doing standup in Madison Square Garden or acting in shows like Parks and Recreation and his own Master of None.
Ansari is hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time this weekend (another first-timer in a season of many), so there are no throwback clips from previous performances. However, he was impersonated by Nasim Pedrad in an unaired sketch from 2014.

In this pretaped bit, Pedrad’s version of Ansari is buying a jacket in a men’s clothing store. And wow, does she nail it. “I like this one, I like that one. I don’t like this one,” she reels off. “Just kidding! That one’s my favorite. It’s got ziiiiippers!”
Why this sketch never aired is unclear, because it’s funny as hell. Maybe Ansari wasn’t a big enough name at the time? In any case, Pedrad shared a snippet of the sketch on an appearance on Conan, and then Funny or Die put the entire thing online for our viewing pleasure.
Ansari hosts SNL with musical guest Big Sean this Saturday at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
