‘Saturday Night Live’ Ratings Dip With Host Kristen Wiig & Donald Trump Return
With the post-Presidential election shock waves beginning to settle, so too are Saturday Night Live‘s ratings after a strong fall run leading to the Nov. 8 vote and the Nov. 12 post-election episode marking the hosting debut of Dave Chappelle.
Last night’s show, with SNL alumna Kristen Wiig hosting for the second time and Alec Baldwin returning as Donald Trump, drew a 4.7 Live+same day rating in the metered markets and a 2.2 among adults 18-49 in the markets with local people meters. These are season low marks for SNL, down sharply from last week’s Chappelle episode (6.2 in HH, 3.9 in 18-49). The previous lowest results this fall were a 5.2 in households and a 2.3 in 18-49. Still, these are above average ratings compared to last season.
In addition to Wiig, last night’s SNL, with musical guest The xx, included visits from SNL alums Jason Sudeikis, reprising his role as Mitt Romney, and Will Forte. Among those who watched was Donald Trump, who tweeted another blistering critique, claiming there was “nothing funny at all” in the show.
