Sarah van Mosel Returns to SiriusXM as Podcast Strategy Executive

Sarah van Mosel is returning to SiriusXM in the newly-created position of senior vice president of podcast strategy.

In the role van Mosel will be charged with creating “a targeted podcast acquisition strategy as well as source and attract up and coming new talent to the SiriusXM Podcast Network,according to a memo sent to employees by Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM’s president and chief content officer. Van Mosel most recently worked as executive vice president of the iHeart Audience Network, where she oversaw audio advertising.

She previously served as chief revenue officer at the SiriusXM subsidiary Stitcher.

“As podcasting continues to be a major driver of growth in our overall business, we are organizing the best team in the industry to power our next chapter. You’ve seen us make big moves, most recently with the SmartLess deal, and as we evolve our position within this part of the audio industry, we are both expanding our team and allowing the leaders we already have in-house to hyperfocus on their areas of expertise,” Greenstein said in the memo.  

A major area of focus is expanding our relationships with top podcasts as we look to grow both our exclusive content portfolio and support our successful advertising business,” he continued.

In addition to van Mosel, Adam Sachs will work on podcast production and development at SiriusXM as senior vice president of podcast content.

At the end of January, SiriusXM struck a more than $100 million deal with SmartLess, hosted by Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes, in a multiyear agreement. As part of the deal, SiriusXM will provide exclusive content from the podcast for its subscribers, including early access to new episodes of SmartLess and SmartLess Media podcasts Just Jack & Will, Bad Dates and Owned, and the majority of the SmartLess library will also be available only on SiriusXM.
