Sarah Snook is a two-time Golden Globes winner!

The Succession star took home the award for best actress in a drama series award at the Golden Globes 2024 on Sunday. She was up against Helen Mirren (1923), Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us), Keri Russell (The Diplomat), Imelda Staunton (The Crown) and Emma Stone (The Curse).

After taking the stage, Snook, 36, joked of the honor: "Oh, wow. I was kind of hoping I didn't have to get up. Kieran [Culkin]’s usually better at these speeches, right? Don’t you want to get up instead? Yeah, you take it instead."

Continuing her speech, Snook thanked the Golden Globes, Succession creator Jesse Armstrong and casting director Francine Maisler.

"Thank you Jesse for casting me in this and Francine for putting me in front of Jesse," she said. "This show, it's changed my life. And everybody in it was amazing. The cast, the crew are fantastic. This was a team effort. It was always a team and that was what made the show amazing, I think, to be a part of."

Snook also made sure to thank her family for their support. "Thank you to my husband for holding my hand. And thank you to George and my daughter for also changing my life in different ways," she said.

Finally, Snook closed out her speech with a flustered sentiment: "This room is so intimidating!" she joked. "I gotta get out of here."

Snook starred as Waystar Royco heir Siobhan "Shiv" Roy in the hit HBO series that wrapped its fourth and final season in May.

“Emotionally, all of us weren’t necessarily ready to be done with the show because we love each other so much,” Snook, who welcomed her first baby with husband Dave Lawson in April and revealed the sex of her child on the Golden Globes red carpet Sunday, told The Los Angeles Times. “But everything has to come to an end, and it’s smart not to let something become a parody of itself.”

The actress also penned a goodbye message to Succession on Instagram after watching the show’s finale episode.

“It’s hard to express what this show has meant to me,” she wrote in May. “The places I got to go, the immense talent I got to work with…it breaks my heart that it is all over. But my heart had to be this full of all the memories, good times, challenges and triumphs, to be able to break at all…so that makes me grateful.”

She called being a part of the Succession cast “a career highlight, which will no doubt be hard to top.”

Snook’s costars Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong received nominations in the best actor in a drama series category, with Culkin ultimately winning on Sunday, and J. Smith-Cameron, Matthew Macfadyen, Alan Ruck and Alexander Skarsgård all earned nods for their supporting turns. Additionally, the series picked up a nom for best drama series.

As for Snook, this is her second Golden Globes win. She previously won for her Succession role in 2022 for best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a series, limited series or motion picture made for television.

From running a company to ruling England, the rest of the categories' contenders delivered the drama on screen all year long.

Mirren, 78, plays Dutton family matriarch Cara Dutton in the Yellowstone spinoff opposite Harrison Ford.

"I had to be in the bed with him, you know. I'm dressed up to here," Mirren said at The Wrap's 2023 Awards Season Screening Series , gesturing to her neck. "But I'm lying there and I'm thinking, 'I'm in bed with Harrison Ford.' I was so excited, I can't tell you. I had to pretend to be cool."

The prequel to Yellowstone and sequel to 1883 follows another generation of Duttons, led by Cara (Mirren) and patriarch Jacob (Ford), as they deal with challenges of the early 20th century, such as the Great Depression and the increase of Western expansion.

Mirren first worked with Ford, 81, on The Mosquito Coast in 1986. "The relationship was obviously very, very different then because Harrison was already an enormous movie star and I was a theatre actress out of London and nobody had heard of me," Mirren told the U.K.'s The Times in December 2022.

This marks Mirren’s 17th Golden Globe nomination; she's won three times previously. 1923 also picked up a nod in the best television drama category.

Based on the video game of the same name, The Last of Us takes place in post-apocalyptic America and sees antihero survivor Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) caring for a 14-year-old girl (Ramsey) who may be the only shot at saving civilization.

During an interview with Variety, Pascal, 48, spoke about working with the "cool" 20-year-old, who identifies as non-binary but doesn't mind playing feminine characters.

“I couldn’t have asked for a more anchoring, generous, thoughtful teenager. And I don’t mean to say that in a patronizing way,” he shared. “I relied on Bella for so much of the experience. We were both scared and shy about that, but Bella just inspired me to be mature about it.”

“I really don’t think I’ve met anybody like Bella,” The Mandalorian star continued. “They brought the best out of me as a person.”

The Last of Us also picked up a nod for best television drama. The show's second season will premiere on Max in 2025, with production slated to start next month.

Russell, 47, plays a new U.S. ambassador to the U.K. in the Netflix political thriller. The mother of three told Deadline Hollywood she signed onto The Diplomat following a six-season run on The Americans because she thought “it was fun.”

“It’s just such a messy mix of smart political jargon and then that whole world that is really interesting of the State Department and the Foreign Service, but mixed in with Debora’s really specific brand of humor involving the minutiae of everyday life,” Russell said of The Diplomat creator Debora Cahn. “This character that she created, it’s just fun and good. It’s as simple as that.”

Russell met Jane D. Hartley, the real-life U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom, at Winfield House in London in May. “I feel unbelievably lucky to have the absurdly talented Keri Russell playing me,” Hartley, 73, said at the time.

Russell described her character Kate Wyler as “smart and tough and direct, and bold,” to The Wrap. “She’s bossy. She’s fun to play. And full of all these other contradictions.”

This marks Russell’s fourth Golden Globe nomination; she won in this same category in 1999 for her breakthrough role on Felicity. The Diplomat also received a nod in the best TV drama category.

Staunton, 67, has played Queen Elizabeth II in seasons 5 and 6 of the Netflix historical drama, taking over from Olivia Colman, who won the Golden Globe for her portrayal in 2020. Claire Foy originated the role and picked up a Golden Globe for it in 2017.

“I think the challenge that I felt for myself — the extra challenge, if there wasn’t enough on my plate — was to be the queen that people recognize much more now, the older queen,” Staunton told Tudum. “Claire Foy’s [version] was almost a costume drama because it seemed so long ago, and then Olivia Colman’s was, again, like a period piece. [This season] just feels so much more present. I thought, ‘I can’t fool anyone now.’”

This marks Staunton’s third Golden Globe nomination. Her costar Dominic West, who played Prince Charles, earned a nod in the best actor category, and The Crown picked up a nom for best television drama.

Showtime’s The Curse follows New Mexico couple Ashery and Whitney Siegel, played by Stone, 35, and Nathan Fielder, who star in and produce a new home renovation reality show, Flipanthropy. The pair hope to build and sell chic and sustainable homes designed by Whitney.

“Whitney is, in my mind, completely created by the environment she’s in at any given moment, and that can move on a dime,” Stone explained at Variety Q&A. “Whatever energy is coming at her, she’s shifting into what she believes she needs to be in that circumstance.”

This marks Stone’s eighth Golden Globe nomination; she won for best actress in a comedy or musical film in 2017 for La La Land. She also received a nomination this year for her performance in the film Poor Things.
