Sarah Paulson remembers Matthew Perry “as one of the most generous people on the planet.”

The American Horror Story actress looked back at her fond memories with the Friends star, who died at age 54 last month, during a recent appearance on The View.

On Oct. 28, the Los Angeles Police Department found Perry unresponsive in the hot tub at his L.A. home. His cause of death is still under investigation as the L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Office awaits toxicology results.

Paulson and Perry co-starred in Aaron Sorkin’s Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which ran for one season from 2006 to 2007. But the actress credits Perry for helping her land the role of Harriet Hayes, saying he went above and beyond to offer her extra support.

“I was at a particular place in my career where I needed that job very desperately and he, because of his friendship with Amanda Peet, who was my best friend at the time, who was also on the show, they had done a movie together called The Whole Nine Yards,” Paulson explained. “So he asked me to meet him in the parking lot for my final audition, and I got in his car and he ran the whole scene with me multiple times so that I could have a leg up on the other performer.”

Fortunately, she got the job. “I sort of credit him with taking that extra time, and he absolutely did not need to do that,” the Bird Box actress said.

As she continued to think back to other precious memories with the late actor, Paulson noted that he “was just the kind of person that if you made him laugh or if you made him smile, you felt like you had really arrived.

“I had the great pleasure of making him laugh a couple of times and it made me feel really good,” she added. “He’s a wonderful guy.”
