Sarah Michelle Gellar is celebrating her very own “birthday bae” Freddie Prinze Jr.

On Friday, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum, 46, marked her husband’s 48th birthday with a light-hearted Instagram post referencing the popular internet meme based on a well-known Turkish chef Nurset Gokce.

“#saltbae has nothing on my birthday bae @realfreddieprinze #happybirthday,” she wrote alongside photo of her cookbook author husband salting a piece of meat.

The birthday celebration comes six months after the pair marked their 21st wedding anniversary in September.

In honor of the occasion, the actress shared a sweet throwback wedding photo on Instagram and joked about a typical anniversary gift for 21 years of marriage.

“@realfreddieprinze what’s customary for 21 years?,” Gellar captioned the post. “I believe it’s @celine or is it @loewe ?!?”

The Scooby-Doo costars — who first met on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer — tied the knot in 2002 at the El Careyes resort in Mexico. "We are each other's best friend," Gellar shared at the time. "He is my first love."

The couple went to welcome two children: daughter Charlotte Grace, in 2009 and son Rocky James, in 2012.

Gellar shared that the pair being mindful and present during their time together is one of the secrets to their long-lasting marriage.

"Take the 10 minutes – put the phone down. Have a cup of coffee together. Walk the dog at the end of the night. Read a story with your kids," she told PEOPLE in 2020. "Make the most of the time that you have. We are all pulled in so many directions, so make sure that, whichever one you are focusing on, you're present."

Prinze also joked about why Gellar has stuck around, saying on Australia's The Kyle & Jackie O Show in 2022, "I hate a mess. If something is dirty, I clean it. I do the dishes while I'm cooking so there's less s--- to look at."

He added, "I can't stand a mess: my room is spotless, my car is spotless. I'm one day late for a haircut and I'm going crazy."

The actor also does the laundry and cooks all the meals in the couple's household. "My mom was a chef and I learned how to cook, and I married someone who couldn't cook," he said. "So I'm necessary. She needs me to live and sustain herself."
