Sarah Michelle Gellar Explores Dark Side in 'Veronika Decides to Die' (Exclusive Trailer)

It's never too late to get a little crazy, at least, with your movie viewing.

In Veronika Decides to Die, Sarah Michelle Gellar plays a young woman who, in spite of her idyllic life, wants to end it. After attempting to overdose on pills, she wakes up in a mental institution and learns she has mere weeks to live.

The dreamy-dreary indie has a stellar supporting cast, including two actors from TV's Parenthood, Jonathan Tucker and Erika Christensen; David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything); and Melissa Leo (The Fighter). (And if everyone looks a little younger, that’s because the movie was shot in 2008 and released overseas in 2009!)

Veronika is based on a 1998 bestseller of the same name by Paulo Coelho, who also wrote the popular novel The Alchemist. Directed by BAFTA winner Emily Young (Kiss of Life, 2003), Veronika Decides to Die is in select theaters and on VOD Jan. 20.
