Sarah Jessica Parker is our BFF. Oh, she’s yours too? Makes sense — everyone kind of likes to imagine that the Sex & the City star is their own bestie. So, when SJP shared what she’s reading this fall, we headed to our local bookstore immediately to buy the same five titles. (Support local booksellers!)

SJP’s coolness factor and her down-to-earth vibe make it plenty easy to imagine that the megastar is speaking right to each of us personally when she shares things on Instagram. That’s why her latest post seemed like it was not just a reflection of what she was up to, but a recommendation among friends. Parker shared a stack of books from which she was choosing on a long-haul flight, showing a collection of five stacked books with the caption, “Other choices for my long flight to and from Australia. What a conundrum. Or. An embarrassment of riches. X,SJ”

The little library includes Night Boat to Tangier by Kevin Barry; When Time Stopped by Ariana Neumann; Life of David Hockney by Catherine Cusset; Call Me by Your Name by André Aciman; and The Dutch House by Ann Patchett.

SJP’s stack represents the perfect range of reading material, and we’re preparing to devour her recommendations as the weather turns cooler and we crave cozy fireside nesting.

Genres in her list span novels (Night Boat to Tangier, the romance Call Me by Your Name, and the fairytale-like Dutch House) to the fictionalized artist biography Life of David Hockney. When Time Stopped is an intense family memoir. And these all sound pretty juicy to us.

So, who’s up for a little book club action with us — and our bestie SJP?
