Sarah Hyland's 'hipster' anniversary gift from Wells Adams is so sweet

Modern Family star Sarah Hyland and former Bachelorette contestant Wells Adams are still going strong. The couple recently marked their first anniversary, and Adams gave Hyland a gift that truly fits their relationship.

Hyland explained to E! News on Friday that she loves taking Polaroid pictures of herself and her boyfriend, so Adams made her a personal gift using the photos. “He took all the Polaroids I take and put them in his typewriter and wrote things on them,” the actor told E! News. “Then he bought a leather-bound journal that you can put pictures in … he’s amazing.”

The See You in Valhalla actor also joked to E! that she and Adams are “such a hipster f***ing couple,” what with the typewriter and the Polaroid images. She knows they’re playing into a certain image, but it seems they are just doing what they love and being themselves around each other.

Despite their apparent affinity for old-school technology, Hyland and Adams’s relationship started in a decidedly modern way. Hyland explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in January that she and Adams started dating after he DM’d her on social media.

Apparently the two had tweeted at each other a few times already. She enjoyed seeing him as the bartender on Bachelor in Paradise Season 4, while he told her he liked Modern Family. Eventually that led to more conversation, which progressed to a loving relationship.

Hyland’s and Adams’s TV experiences are very different, but it sounds like she appreciates his Bachelorette past. In an Instagram post last month, Hyland joked that she was going to “hometowns” with Adams, a reference to the Bachelor franchise’s tradition of hometown dates.

Ever since they started dating a year ago, the pair have been pretty open about their relationship on social media. Last Halloween, Adams and Hyland dressed up as Eleven and Dustin from Netflix’s Stranger Things, and their costumes were too perfect.

More recently, Hyland and Adams moved in together, with the radio host joining Hyland in her Los Angeles home. The two of them look super happy with each other, and it sounds like their relationship is progressing too. Plus, jokes about the “hipster” nature of Adams’s gift aside, it’s a thoughtful gesture and one the actress definitely seemed to appreciate.
