Sara Ramirez reportedly axed from ‘And Just Like That,’ blasts Hollywood stance on pro-Palestine actors

And just like that, it looks like Che Diaz is over and out.

Sara Ramirez‘s polarizing character from “And Just Like That…” has reportedly been axed from the eagerly anticipated third season of HBO’s “Sex and the City” reboot.

The news comes on the heels of the Tony Award-winning actor discussing the perils of being a vocal supporter of Palestine in the film and television industry.

“Our industry is so duplicitous,” they wrote in a series of pro-Palestine Instagram posts on Tuesday. “While they give awards away, casting directors and agents are making blacklists of actors and workers who post anything in support of Palestinians in Gaza to ensure they will not work again.”

The 48-year-old Mazatlán, Mexico, native, who came out as nonbinary in 2020, recently participated in pro-Palestine demonstrations, including Jan. 13’s March for Gaza in Washington, D.C. The protests have called for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, where more than 24,000 Palestinians are said to have been killed amid the war against Hamas following its Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel.

“While they lift up some of their own clients who have spoken up against this genocide, they are firing and letting others who have smaller platforms go,” Ramirez continued. “Meanwhile, we are beyond the 100 day mark on this ‘war’ that has been acknowledged by many, including the [International Criminal Court], as a genocide.”

“It’s wild how performative so many in Hollywood are,” they concluded. “Even more performative than the last character I played.”

As podcast producer Che Diaz, Ramirez received an onslaught of vitriol from fans, who felt the self-described “queer, nonbinary, Mexican Irish diva representing everyone else outside these two boring genders” was portrayed as a “poorly developed caricature” of a nonbinary person.

HBO has yet to release an official statement about casting changes. The Daily News reached out to reps for Ramirez but has not received a response.
