Sara Marley, Lauryn Hill’s daughter, celebrated her sweet sixteen with a Great Gatsby flare. The teenager’s party went down at the Cipriani Ballroom in New York City in mid-January.

Pictures of the night show off stunning crystal chandeliers hanging overhead as partygoers dressed in Jazz Age garbs danced the night away. But, unlike Scott F. Fitzgerald’s 1925 tale, this version of Gatsby starred flamboyant Black beauty.

Galia Lahav, the fashion luxury brand responsible for Marley’s look, posted a recap of the night on Instagram. The brand detailed Sara’s custom “NALA & JILL” gown and minidress for the commemoration. GL also provided a bit of backstory regarding the sweet sixteen’s theme and aesthetic.

“Sara Marley shines at her Sweet 16 in GL gowns NALA and JILL, a stylish celebration at the Cipriani Ballroom in NYC,” the company typed. “A dazzling tribute to The Great Gatsby and a regal nod to her to her roots as the daughter of the iconic @mslaurynhill and granddaughter to Bob Marley.”

“Sara’s choice of Galia Lahav wasn’t just a fashion statement; it was a powerful nod to her family’s rich artistic heritage,” the company added on its official site. “Her mother, Lauryn Hill, is a musical icon known for her groundbreaking style, while her grandfather, Bob Marley, was a reggae legend whose influence on fashion remains undeniable. Sara, with her vibrant spirit and effortless elegance, seems poised to carry on this legacy in her own unique way.”

Photographer Irma Mchedlishvili also shared intimate views of the coming-of-age celebration. Mchedlishvili uploaded photos of Marley’s family and friends to her IG Story. The collection of memories shows various snaps featuring Ms. Lauryn Hill and her other kids having a blast.
