Sandy Hook Five Years Later: Celebrities, Pundits & Politicians Remember
On the fifth year mark of the horrific mass shooting that left dead 20 children and six adult staffers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., the tragedy is being recalled and its victims honored by Hollywood celebrities, politicians and many of the journalists and pundits who covered the massacre.
CNN’s Jake Tapper is tweeting remembrances of each and every victim, while stars like Michael Keaton and Reese Witherspoon are holding Washington to account.
Here’s a sample of today’s commemorations:

Today is the 5th anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Since then, 40 moments of silence in Congress and 0 commonsense gun bills signed into law. @stophandguns @sandyhook

I carry them in my

Thinking about the 20 sets of parents who were dropping their first graders at Sandy Hook Elementary right about now, 5 years ago, the 6 families of staff members who gave their lives for someone else's children, and what they all have lived with every day since. RIP. #SandyHook

Five years after the devastating attack on teachers and children in Sandy Hook, we mourn them and remember them. America needs common-sense gun laws more than ever and we must not stop pushing until we get them.

By far, the most difficult story I've ever covered was Sandy Hook. The look in those parents' eyes, seeing the pictures of their children, feeling their raw grief never leaves this parent…even 5 years later. #SandyHook5yrs

Many of us will never forget where we were when we heard the unfathomable news the Sandy Hook horror. I will never forget meeting the families just 2 days later. May they know they will always be surrounded by a circle of love #SandyHook5yrs.

Grab a box of tissue, read @jaketapper’s thread today. We owe it to those kids, the teachers who also lost their lives in #SandyHook, all their loved ones missing them this Christmas, to remember. We also owe it to them to pass common-sense gun & mental health laws.

Five years ago, 20 beautiful first graders were shot to death, with 6 teachers at #SandyHook school. Newtown is next to my village in Ct. I think of the children & their grieving families always & hope we can one day take measures to prevent the ‘next time’ pic.twitter.com/dZ4HnCmSgb

5 years ago today, 20 kids and 6 educators were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary. My heart goes out to all whose lives were torn apart by gun violence on December 14, 2012, and on every day since. Congress’ failure to act is shameful. We need to pass lifesaving reform now.

Horror. And 2 months later, we barely remember the 58 lost in Vegas. #SandyHook didn't change the status quo because there's an NRA-sponsored virus of paranoia, violence & greed within us. How does the body heal, if it doesn't remember it's sick? We need sensible gun laws. https://t.co/akvgHrG94A
