Sandra Lee is safe after being close to Thursday’s mass shooting in downtown Prague, PEOPLE confirms.

Ten people have reportedly been killed in the shooting in the Czech Republic, according to initial reports from The Associated Press, The New York Times and Reuters.

Lee, 57, and her boyfriend ​​Ben Youcef had been vacationing in the city as part of a larger Europe trip for the holidays. The Food Network alum updated her fans on Instagram after news broke of the shooting.

"We are safe but it’s shocking how fast the world can turn. We were less than 3 blocks from the shooting site," she wrote along with a photo in Prague with Youcef, 44. "We had so many conversations about how safe Prague is/was. This is just shocking. We are stunned and send all our love to everyone in Prague."

"Live everyday to its fullest," she added. "Life is precious."

Lee’s Instagram post comes just two days after she documented their time in Prague, the latest stop of their European getaway. In the caption, she shared a bit about their journey and revealed that she has wanted to travel to Prague for a long time because her grandfather was Czech.

The Dec. 21 shooting began shortly after 3 p.m. local time, Reuters reports.

In addition to the ten fatalities, 30 people were wounded in the shooting, the AP reports. Czech police said the shooter has been killed and that no other assailants were believed to be involved, the outlet also reports.

Officers had been deployed to a shooting at a school in Jan Palach Square, located along the Vltava River and in the heart of the city’s Old Town area. The philosophy department of Charles University was evacuated, the AP reports.

Reuters also reports that nine of the approximately 30 other people wounded in Thursday’s shooting were being treated for serious injuries.

Prague Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda tweeted that he has “no words” to describe Thursday’s shooting.

“I have no words. All I feel at this moment is sadness,” the mayor wrote, according to an English translation on the social media site X (formerly Twitter).

“As the mayor of Prague, I have to react. And to assure the people of Prague that they are safe,” Svoboda wrote. “We witnessed a tragedy of unprecedented proportions. It is appalling how many innocent lives have been wasted. My deepest condolences to all the bereaved. We must not give way to evil!”
