Mar. 16—ANDERSON — Twelve guest artists will come together on the Paramount Theatre stage to celebrate Anderson Symphony Orchestra Music Director Richard Sowers.

Artists including Sandi Patty, Jon McLoughlin, Ryan Ahlwardt, Heather Lake Bays, Lawrence Bownlee and Leah Crane will join the ASO at the Paramount Theatre on March 23 for "An Evening of Song."

The concert will be the fifth installment of the "Maestro" season, named in honor of Sowers' final season.

Sowers is retiring after more than 35 years of service. His last concert is scheduled for April 20.

When asked how he felt, Sowers said he preferred to focus on the present.

He was excited about "An Evening of Song," especially considering that seven of the 12 guests participated in the Anderson University Chorale, which he directed before retiring in 2021 after nearly 40 years of service.

The upcoming concert promises to be a night filled with music ranging from popular tunes to operatic arias.

It will also be the world premiere of "A Medley of Spirituals," a mixture of African American spirituals arranged by Paul Langford, one of the night's featured artists.

Other songs include "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," "Hold the Line," and "Love in Any Language." The concert will end with "The Sound of Music Medley," during which the artists will join Sandi Patty on stage.

A gala with dinner and cocktails will be held before the concert. Tickets are available for purchase online.
