Sand Sculpting Festival, Acoustic Fest and more among Manitowoc can’t-miss events

1. Don’t miss the Wisconsin Sand Sculpting Festival

There’s nothing quite like a beach day in July, and three beach days is even better!

July 14-16 marks the inaugural Wisconsin Sand Sculpting Festival, and everyone is invited to participate in this exciting new event at Red Arrow Park beach, 1931 S. Ninth St., Manitowoc.

Ten semi-pro sand sculptors from across the country will be creating masterpieces, offering lessons and hosting speed sculpting shows.

There will also be food, vendors and live music.

Admission is $5 per day or $10 for three days — cash only.

2. Take a beat at Acoustic Fest

Another great outdoor event this weekend is the 27th annual Acoustic Fest.

Washington Park, 1115 Washington St., will be filled with acoustic tunes all day July 15.

The event is free and open to the public, starting with a beginner-friendly yoga class at 9:15 a.m.

3. Make it a night with Kids from Wisconsin

More musical talent is coming to the area this weekend as Kids from Wisconsin performs at the Capitol Civic Centre, 913 S. Eighth St., Manitowoc.

They will be on stage performing their 55th anniversary "Star Struck" tour with musical selections from famous award-winning shows.

4. Grab Pints and Plates at Pinecrest

Experience the charm of Pinecrest Historical Village, 924 Pinecrest Road, Manitowoc, during an evening of fun, food and drinks from 5 to 8 p.m. July 17.

Pints and Plates is a 21-and-older event with drinks from local breweries and wineries and samples from local restaurants.

Sip and savor the flavors as you take in the gorgeous outdoor scenery and live music from Nettle Hill.

Tickets are $65 and include a commemorative glass.

5. Touch the Trucks and learn sand sculpting

Take out the kids the morning of July 12 for back-to-back fun.

Touch the Trucks starts at 10 a.m. in the lot across the street from the Manitowoc Public Library (720 Quay St), where kids have the chance to get up close and on board all the big trucks.

At the same time, a professional sand sculptor will be on the library lawn creating a masterpiece and showing everyone how it’s done ahead of the Wisconsin Sand Sculpting Festival.

Both events run until noon.
