SANADA has won the 2023 New Japan Cup.
At New Japan Pro-Wrestling‘s New Japan Cup Final event on March 21, SANADA defeated David Finlay to win the tournament. As a result, he earned the right to challenge for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, and he will face reigning champion Kazuchika Okada at NJPW Sakura Genesis.

On his road to the finals, SANADA picked up wins against Taichi, KENTA, Tetsuya Naito, and Mark Davis. Following his win over Naito, he left Los Ingobernables and joined Just Four Guys.
As for Finlay, he defeated Tomohiro Ishii, Great-O-Khan, Shota Umino, and Tama Tonga throughout his run in the tournament.
