On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Wednesday, actor Samuel L. Jackson revealed that he is just like us - he likes to watch Samuel L. Jackson movies too. And even though Colbert seemed convinced that some actors just can’t stand to watch their own movies, Jackson had a different theory.

“Some actors lie to you about that. They watch their movies,” Jackson said. “It’s a ‘watch me’ business, that’s why we’re here.”

So then Colbert took things one step further and asked Jackson to name his top 5 Samuel L. Jackson movies. And for a guy who has been in everything from Star Wars to Marvel to Shaft franchises, his list might not be what you quite expect: The Long Kiss Goodnight, A Time To Kill, Jackie Brown, Red Violin and One Eight Seven.

Video Transcript

STEPHEN COLBERT: Do you ever watch Sam Jackson movies?

SAMUEL L. JACKSON: Yeah.

STEPHEN COLBERT: Just some actors just can't. Some actors just will not watch themselves.

SAMUEL L. JACKSON: Some actors lie to you about that, they watch their movies.

YLIE MAR: On The Late Show Wednesday, actor Samuel L. Jackson admitted that he's just like us, and that he watches Sam Jackson movies too. So being the professional that he is, host Stephen Colbert took things one step further and asked Sam to name his top five Sam Jackson movies. And for a guy who has been in everything from Star Wars, to Marvel, to Shaft, this list is not what you might expect.

SAMUEL L. JACKSON: Uh, Long Kiss Good Night.

- OK.

SAMUEL L. JACKSON: [INAUDIBLE] uhm, A Time To Kill, Jackie Brown, oh, Red Violin, and 187.

YLIE MAR: Wait, he forgot Snakes On A Plane. Interestingly, all five movies he chose are from the mid to late 90s, yet more proof that was the best decade. And four out of the five carry fresh ratings on Rotten Tomatoes with all of them having favorable audience scores. So in other words, Sam's list is legit. And just for fun Z's for when Sam's not watching his own movies, we also found out his top five films that he's not in. And yes, there are actually five movies that he's not in.

SAMUEL L. JACKSON: The Raid, The Godfather, Hard Boiled, Hoodlums, and the Berlin File.
