Samuel L. Jackson Works With Lady Assassin in Our Exclusive ‘Kite’ Clip

From Dragonball to Old Boy, anime gets morphed into live action with relative regularity. Now there’s Kite, based on a popular (and pretty grisly) Japanese series, and starring India Eisley (The Secret Life of the American Teenager) as a stoic assassin named Sawa. If you’re familiar with the source material, you know Sawa has an axe to grind following the murder of her parents.

What you won’t see in the above clip, posted here first on Yahoo Movies, is Eisley in action. Rather, you hear about her damage doing as Samuel L. Jackson’s cop character, Karl Aker, recounts a “jack-o-lantern tracheotomy” she gave a bad guy who had a penchant for trafficking girls. Sawa’s rep for reckless killing — and looking gorgeous while doing it — is further teased as Aker expresses his fear. “You’re going to get us both killed!”

Kite premieres on DIRECTV on Aug. 28 and enters select theaters on Oct. 10 — the same date of its VOD release.
