Samuel L. Jackson Elaborates on Tweet About Ben Carson’s Slave Comments

Ben Carson, the new secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, made some controversial comments during his first address to HUD employees. He said, “There were other immigrants who came in the bottom of slave ships, who worked even longer, even harder, for less, but they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons, great-granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”

Samuel L. Jackson took to Twitter to respond to Carson’s comments with a tweet that read, “OK! Ben Carson … I can’t! Immigrants? In the bottom of SLAVE SHIPS??!! MUTHAF***A PLEASE!!!”

During his visit to The Late Late Show With James Corden, Jackson elaborated on his tweet, saying, “You got a guy talking about, you know, slaves were immigrants, and they’re in the bottom of the ship chained up. And he starts talking about hopes and dreams when they get to this country and living a better life, it’s like, ‘What the f*** are you talking about?'”

The Late Late Show With James Corden airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. on CBS.
