Sammy Hagar has announced “The Best of All Worlds” featuring an all-star backing band that includes bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani, and drummer Jason Bonham.
The Summer 2024 outing will hit 28 cities across the US and Canada, kicking off July 13th in West Palm Beach, Florida, and wrapping up on August 31st in St. Louis. The itinerary also includes shows in Tampa, Bridgeport, Toronto, Chicago, Las Vegas,Los Angeles, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, and elsewhere. Loverboy will serve as the tour’s primary support.
A Live Nation ticket pre-sale begins Thursday, November 16th at 10 a.m. local time using the code BACKSTAGE. General ticket sales start Friday, November 17th at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster. Fans can also look for deals or get tickets to sold-out dates via StubHub, where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.
The Red Rocker will be backed by an all-star band featuring guitar virtuoso Satriani, Van Halen bassist Anthony, and drummer Bonham (the latter two also being members of the supergroup Sammy Hagar and The Circle), as well as Australian musician Rai Thistlethwayte on keyboard and backing vocals.
The tour announcement comes on the heels of the Van Halen box set The Collection II, which culls the band’s studio albums featuring Hagar on vocals. A play on Van Halen’s legendary “Best of Both Worlds Tour” that featured both Hagar and David Lee Roth, the upcoming “Best of All Worlds Tour” will see Hagar and Anthony revisiting hits from the “Van Hagar” era with Satriani’s axework at their disposal.
“It’s crazy to think that it’ll be 20 years since Mikey and I played these songs with Van Halen on the ’04 ‘Best of Both Worlds Tour,’” said Hagar in a press release. “With Joe on board, we can take a deeper dive into those years. We’re going to touch on some hits from my entire career but seeing fans old and new really embrace the new collection set off something in Mikey and I.”
Continued Hagar: “We were at my Birthday Bash in Cabo for my 76th and looked at each other and high fived, like, ‘Let’s do it.’ We pulled out a couple of them and it was an instant lovefest with the fans from our first riffs. The music we created is going to outlive us all. They deserve to be heard so it’s time we go out and serve the fans that music, while we still can.”
The outing will follow Satriani’s own co-headlining tour with fellow guitar legend Steve Vai. That US outing runs from March 22nd through May 8th.
