Samira Wiley is currently helping lead a campaign that encourages people to celebrate and appreciate themselves, physically and otherwise. She applies its mission to her own life, but of course that doesn't mean she's immune to the emotional impacts of body-shaming.

As she recalled during a new interview with People, it happened in a professional setting — during a photo shoot — and "really affected" her despite not necessarily "[putting her] in a horrible mood" in the moment.

"And honestly, I thought it was fine," she said of the outfit. "But someone on the set was like, 'Oh, don't worry. We can fix that in post.'"

That inappropriate comment struck her as a clear example of dangerous "beauty" paradigms that we know are pervasive in Hollywood, but exist pretty much everywhere.

"This is what I have to deal with?" she said. "I can't imagine what all of these young girls who are just looking at these magazines, and their perception is that this is reality and it's not."
