The film premiered on August 26, 2022, and despite receiving mixed to negative reviews, it performed exceptionally well with the viewers. Amazon reported that Samaritan remained at the very top among the titles available on the platform for three consecutive weeks. Is there a Samaritan 2 release date?
Samaritan 2’s release date could arrive by 2025 at the earliest.
It was reported in October 2023 that a sequel to Samaritan is in development at Amazon MGM Studios. Bragi F. Schut, the screenwriter of the first film, will pen the second film as well. Sylvester Stallone, who starred in the first film and produced it through his Balboa Productions, is attached to the upcoming project in the aforementioned capacities. The deal for him to star in the film was reportedly made before the actors’ strike. It is unknown whether Julius Avery is returning to direct the film.
Samaritan spent three years in development. Its success is likely to speed up the process for the sequel, though the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike might impact the production. Considering all this, it can be speculated that the sequel will come out in 2025 at the earliest.
