Samantha Markle Is Already Mom-Shaming Meghan & This Time She Crossed a Line

In the latest round of “Can we please let Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, live her life in peace?”, TLC sought out her half-sister Samantha Markle to talk about Meghan’s pregnancy for a documentary focused on all things Baby Sussex. Folks, I’m already tired. Just thinking about the fresh nonsense Markle spewed in this documentary is making my face melt with annoyance but we’ve got to talk about it. Why? Because Markle’s comments only serve to shame new-mom-to-be Meghan and it’s extremely not okay.

Per Refinery29, Markle’s comments in the TLC documentary Meghan & Harry: A Royal Baby Story, were par for the course with her well-established plan to attack and demean her royal half-sister. It’s not really clear why Markle was included in the documentary when you read her comments, because they don’t serve any purpose other than to shade Meghan over parenting choices she has a right to make on her own terms. Also, we sure as shit know Meghan isn’t consulting Markle about this; what does Markle really know about Meghan’s pregnancy anyway?

In the documentary, Markle addressed rumors of Meghan and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge’s alleged feud, noting that Meghan apparently has “a jealous streak,” going on to say, “She does like to be the center of attention. I feel like that’s a part of what is happening now.”

Later in the documentary, Markle had the chance to talk about Meghan’s pregnancy and decisions around how she will raise her child. Brace yourselves, this is where it gets frustrating.

Predicting that Meghan will get a nanny once Baby Sussex arrives — a truly normal thing for a parent to do — Markle commented, “I’m pretty sure that her threshold for stress could be quite low in the beginning. How many rooms in Frogmore? I can see them all being filled with nannies,” adding, “Meghan is very strong-minded, and there will definitely be a butting of heads, but Meghan could learn and grow from that. So if the nanny is strong enough, then she won’t be left in tears.”

Not sure why Markle thinks it’s a revelation that Meghan would hire a nanny to help take care of her baby, considering its an especially common practice and Markle has made it clear she’d like to take a shortened maternity leave so she can return to her work in the public eye. Markle acts like it’s disdainful or that Meghan can’t be bothered to raise her child on her own.

Markle makes time in the documentary to return to her usual line of attack against Meghan, blaming her sister for problems with her and their father, Thomas Markle, saying that Meghan “can’t hurt people like this and then turn around and flip the script and play victim,” referring to Meghan quietly distancing herself from the attention-seeking Markles.

Meghan has received zero support from the Markle side of her family since her royal wedding, and the instances when her family does appear in the media to talk about her, like this documentary appearance from Markle, are undoubtedly motivated by money (Markle nets thousands from her media appearances, where she trashes Meghan regularly) and not by genuine love or concern. We’re not surprised Meghan has cut them out of her life, but we’re upset she even has to deal with this bullshit during what should be one of the most exciting times in her life.
