Samantha Bee under fire: Apologizes for calling Ivanka a 'feckless c—t'
As you can see in the headline, Samantha Bee is getting some rather heavy blowback for calling Ivanka Trump something pretty profane — and it’s not the word “feckless.”
On Wednesday’s Full Frontal with Samantha Bee — which is pre-taped and not live — the host was tackling the latest immigration headlines, specifically, how the Office of Refugee Resettlement lost 1,500 migrant children in 2017 and how Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that people trying to come into the U.S. without documentation will be separated from their children.
“Tearing children away from their parents is so evil, it’s the inciting incident in almost every movie we’ve ever cared about,” Bee said.
Then Bee noted that Ivanka Trump tweeted a lovely photo with her infant son last weekend.
“You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child,” Bee said. “But let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless c—t! He listens to you! Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to f—ing stop it.”
Her comments were met with harsh criticism on social media and in news programs on Thursday, and she issued an apology on Twitter. “I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night,” she wrote. “It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”
According to CNN, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders slammed the segment and called Bee’s language “vile and vicious.”
“The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling,” she said. “Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network.”
And at least one advertiser, AutoTrader, has yanked its ads from the show:

According to Deadline, The Federalist‘s Mary Katharine Ham was on CNN earlier talking about the Roseanne cancellation in the wake of its star’s racist tweet about a former Obama adviser. “You can recognize the racism of Roseanne, and that she should have been punished for it socially, and recognize that there is a double standard. Samantha Bee called Ivanka Trump a ‘feckless word-I-cannot-say-that-begins-with-a-‘c’-that-is-the-worst-word-you-can-call-a-woman’ on TV, and there will not be a nine-day news cycle about that.”
CNNMoney reporter Oliver Darcy added it was a “really disgusting remark she made this in context of going after Ivanka Trump for her father’s immigration policy.”
