Samantha Bee Rewrites Show to Cover Immigration Ban
On Wednesday’s Full Frontal, Samantha Bee had to scrap an entire show written in the days leading up to Donald Trump’s executive order banning immigration from seven Muslim-majority nations. She and her staff tossed out their script and redid the entire show to discuss the ban.
Bee joked about the hastily implemented executive order, “It was the Healthcare.gov of Islamophobia, the Ford Pinto of intolerance, a big cocktail of New Coke and Zima poured onto a Microsoft Zune playing an endless loop of the Star Wars prequel Jar-Jar Binks scene.”
She then interviewed a civil rights attorney, Lee Gelernt, who helped get a judge to partially block the order. He said of the order’s questionable legality, “Even the pushback keeps us well beyond anything any other administration has ever done, and they are pushing the limits of the Constitution beyond the breaking point.”
