Samantha Bee celebrates Trumpcare's Thelma and Louise finish

Samantha Bee celebrated the Thelma and Louise-esque ending to Trumpcare on Wednesday’s Full Frontal, as she likened President Donald Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan to the titular runaways driving off a cliff.

“So, I guess Democrats kinda won, the same way the cops won that car chase at the end of Thelma and Louise,” she joked as her producers Photoshopped Trump and Ryan into the movie’s ending. “What the hell, it’s the closest they’ve had to a win in seven years.” Later, lampooning Republicans for keeping hope alive around a repeal-and-replace health care plan, she said, “Sure, go for it guys. Maybe the movie will end differently this time.”

Bee further mocked Trump for his “‘I’m a grower, not a shower’ defense” for why the GOP’s American Health Care Act didn’t pass. “He couldn’t sell Obamacare repeal to a House that voted for it 60 times already? Closing deals is the one thing President ‘Big Boy Truck’ was supposed to know how to do. If only he had paid attention to Alec Baldwin’s earlier work,” she said, showing a still from the SNL impersonator’s “always be closing” scene in Glengarry Glen Ross.

While Trump tried to save face by pointing to the lack of support from the Democrats in passing Trumpcare, Bee said, “Yes, and the Atlanta Falcons would have won the Super Bowl, but they had no support from the New England Patriots.”
