On Full Frontal, Samantha Bee was not too happy with the way that Trump has handled Puerto Rico. With the Caribbean island facing a huge humanitarian crisis due to Hurricane Maria, Trump recently tweeted, “Texas and Florida are doing great but Puerto Rico, which was already suffering from broken infrastructure and massive debt, is in deep trouble.” Bee found this tweet less than inspiring saying, “Sending a kind, supportive message to citizens in need is the easiest part of a president's job unless you're a victim-blaming dementor."
Bee pointed out that Trump was busy with other things, namely tweeting multiple times demanding that NFL owners should punish players who kneel during the national anthem.
Trump said, “Our soldiers and first responders should be treated with respect,” but Bee responded, “If anyone knows about treating soldiers and first responders with respect, it's the guy who decided to fire transgender troops and deport paramedics who happened to be Dreamers.”
Ultimately, for Bee, Trump’s message about the NFL was a distraction from the bigger crisis of Puerto Rico and has moved the National debate backwards saying, “What a conversation we're having.Talking about black people and their owners and how they should be grateful for the privilege of working on a field. Who says trump is taking us backward?”
