Samantha Bee apologizes again for her 'potty-mouthed insult' of Ivanka Trump

Samantha Bee apologizes to Ivanka Trump on show for 'potty-mouthed insult'

Samantha Bee started Wednesday’s episode of Full Frontal with a longer apology about her use of the word “c—” to describe Ivanka Trump, and how it “distracted from more important issues.”

“I hate that I did something to contribute to the nightmare of 24-hour news cycles that we’re all white-knuckling through,” Bee said in her first episode since last week’s scandal. “I should have known that a potty-mouthed insult would be inherently more interesting to them than juvenile immigration policy.”

“Them” is likely a reference to those who thought “Hollywood” was guilty of a double standard for canceling Roseanne after star Roseanne Barr posted a racist tweet but allowing Bee to keep her late night show on TBS. (We break down why she stayed but Barr had to go here). President Trump also added to the chorus by tweeting, “Why aren’t they firing no talent Samantha Bee for the horrible language used on her low ratings show? A total double standard but that’s O.K., we are Winning, and will be doing so for a long time to come!”

Bee and TBS issued an apology the day after she called Trump a “feckless c—” during a rant about the President’s immigration apology. She reportedly shared another mea culpa at a private event held by the TV Academy a day later, where she was honored with a social change award.

Here is Bee’s latest apology:

“I’m really sorry that I said that word,” Bee said. “But, you know what? Civility is just nice words, maybe we should all worry a little bit more about the niceness of our actions.”

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee airs Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on TBS. The series is executive-produced by Samantha Bee, Jason Jones, Tony Hernandez, Miles Kahn, Alison Camillo, and Pat King.
