Skydance Television is looking to Sam Raimi for its next hit.
Raimi and his TV producing partner Debbie Liebling have inked a multiyear first-look TV deal with the independent studio, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Under the pact, Raimi and Liebling will develop new projects for the small screen. Sources note that the duo already have a number of projects in development at the company behind Netflix's Grace and Frankie.
"Over Sam's prolific decades-long career, he has proven time and again his capacity to tell stories that simultaneously embrace action, adventure, humor, thrills and mystery. On behalf of our entire team, I'd like to welcome Sam into the Skydance family," Skydance Media CEO David Ellison said in a statement.
The deal reteams Raimi with Skydance. As THR previously reported, the prolific writer, director and producer is in talks to direct a Bermuda Triangle movie for Skydance Media. His credits include the original Evil Dead series as well as the Starz follow-up Ash vs. Evil Dead. Beyond that, Raimi produced Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and its spinoff Xena: Warrior Princess, as well as Starz's Spartacus franchise.
"After having the pleasure of working with David and the Skydance team on the feature side, I was thrilled to be joining forces with their TV division for this new venture," said Raimi. "Skydance has made a name for itself around the world, and I look forward to our collaboration in bringing great television to a global audience."
For her part, Liebling's credits include South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, Borat, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and Bridesmaids. On the TV side, her credits include Comedy Central's South Park and Another Period.
Raimi joins a roster of talent with TV deals at Skydance including Marti Noxon, Laeta Kalogridis and Michael B. Jordan. The company's TV credits include Amazon's Jack Ryan, Netflix's Altered Carbon and ABC's Ten Days in the Valley.
Raimi is repped by CAA and Hansen Jacobson; Liebling is with Ziffren Brittenham.
