Sam Hunt’s ‘Outskirts’ Becomes His 10th Country Airplay No. 1, Kenny Chesney Ties George Strait for Most Top 10s

Sam Hunt banks his 10th No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart as “Outskirts” rises to the top of the tally dated April 27. The song increased by 15% to 33.2 million impressions in the April 12-18 tracking week, according to Luminate.

Hunt co-authored “Outskirts” with Zach Crowell, Jerry Flowers and Josh Osborne, and co-produced it with Crowell and Chris LaCorte. It’s from his EP Locked Up, released April 5.

Hunt rules Country Airplay for the first time since April 2022, when “23” became his fourth straight No. 1, after “Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90’s” (May 2021), “Hard to Forget” (July 2020) and “Kinfolks” (February 2020).

Hunt launched his career with three consecutive Country Airplay No. 1s: “Leave the Night On” (November 2014); “Take Your Time” (May 2015); and “House Party” (September 2015). “Make You Miss Me” became his fourth leader in September 2016 and his crossover smash “Body Like a Back Road” dominated for three frames in May 2017, marking his sole multi-week No. 1. It also paced Billboard’s streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Hot Country Songs chart for a then-record 34 weeks.

Chesney Ties Strait

Kenny Chesney scores his record-tying 61st Country Airplay top 10 as “Take Her Home” (Blue Chair/Warner Music Nashville/WEA) lifts 11-9 (19.3 million, up 7%). He matches George Strait for the most top 10s since the survey began in January 1990, with Tim McGraw in third place with 60.

Chesney last reached the Country Airplay top 10 as featured on Kelsea Ballerini’s “Half of My Hometown,” which became his record-extending 32nd No. 1 in March 2022. He first hit the tier in June 1995 with the No. 6-peaking “Fall in Love.”
