Salvation Army's Community Carnival Aug. 19 in Monroe

A Community Carnival will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Salvation Army of Monroe County, 815 E. First St.

The seventh annual Community Carnival is a free event that will feature games, prizes, music, food, Hot Wheels races, arts and crafts, bounce houses, and classic carnival treats such as popcorn and cotton candy.

Backpacks filled with school supplies will be given to preregistered area children. Items were donated by community members.

“This heartfelt gesture stands as a testament to our commitment to nurturing local students as they embark on the exciting journey of a new school year,” Maj. Wayne Ruston of the Salvation Army of Monroe County, said. “We're thrilled to invite everyone to our Community Carnival. It's a celebration of unity and a chance for us to come together as a community."
