More from GoldDerby

Best Actor
Colman Domingo (“Rustin”) is the only Black, out LGBTQ+ community member ever nominated for an individual film award. The only such examples on the TV side are Tituss Burgess (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”) and Niecy Nash-Betts (“Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”).

Best Actress
Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”) is the first Indigenous nominee in any solo film category.

Best Supporting Actor
Willem Dafoe (“Poor Things”) ties Chris Cooper and Jared Leto for most nominations in this category. His previous two notices came for “Shadow of the Vampire” (2001) and “The Florida Project” (2018).
Sterling K. Brown (“American Fiction”) is the first Black performer to have ever competed in two solo TV categories (Drama Actor, “This Is Us”; Movie/Mini Actor, “American Crime Story”) and an individual film one.

Best Supporting Actress
– This is the third consecutive supporting actress lineup to include multiple women of color: Danielle Brooks (“The Color Purple”) and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”). The two tricenarians are also the youngest pair of Black women to ever face off in this category. Either would be the eighth Black winner of this award.

TV

Best Drama Ensemble
– “The Crown” is the first multi-season streaming drama series to collect ensemble nominations for every one of its seasons.
– At 47, Alexander Skarsgård (“Succession”) is the youngest recipient of ensemble bids for three different drama series. He was previously recognized as a “True Blood” and “Big Little Lies” cast member. Overall, he is the third triple drama ensemble contender, after Jimmy Smits and Julianna Margulies.
– “The Last of Us” is the first drama series with less than four eligible cast members ever nominated for this award. Only Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey share in its first-season ensemble notice.

Best Drama Actor
– “Succession” is the first series of any kind to produce two different sets of directly-competing costar trios (2024: Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Matthew Macfadyen; 2022: Cox, Culkin, Jeremy Strong).

Best Comedy Ensemble
– “Barry” is the first officially concluded cable comedy series to earn ensemble nominations for all of its seasons.

Best Comedy Actress
Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”) and Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”) are the first pair of Black actresses to ever face off in an individual continuing series category.
– Brunson follows Uzo Aduba (“Orange is the New Black”) as the second (and, at 34, youngest) Black woman to contend for this award more than once.
– At 33, Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) is the youngest actress to reach a total of four nominations in this category.

Best TV Movie/Mini Actor
Steven Yeun (“Beef”) is this category’s first nominee of Korean descent.
Tony Shalhoub (“Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie”) is the first performer to earn individual comedy and limited series acting nominations for playing a single character. As Adrian Monk, he won Best TV Comedy Actor in both 2004 and 2005.

Best TV Movie/Mini Actress
Uzo Aduba (“Painkiller”) is the only Black actress to ever earn individual recognition for her work on both a comedy (“Orange is the New Black”) and limited series.
Ali Wong (“Beef”), who is of Chinese and Vietnamese descent, is this category’s first Asian nominee.
