SAG Awards: 10 of the Most Talked-About Looks

“My hairstylist told me you haven’t made it until you’ve gone to an awards show in a [Mercedes-Benz] Sprinter van,” Ali Wong noted on the SAG Awards red carpet Saturday night at Shrine Auditorium — and one look at her Iris van Herpen gown, with its opulent sleeves and feather detailing that stretched far behond her shoulders, immediately explained the need for transportation that allows haute couture to live its life without fear of being crushed or damaged. Anyone who wondered how that grand feather detail would fare in the audience needn’t have worried, as it quickly became clear both feathers and sleeves were removable when Wong arrived onstage to pick up her Screen Actors Guild Award as best actress in a TV movie or miniseries for Beef.

Wong may have taken the top spot among attendees with a look that blended haute-couture chic with theatricality, but she was far from alone in amping up the glamour on this night that honors actors and their performances. Stunning gowns were seen on everyone from The Morning Show‘s Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon to Barbie‘s Ariana Greenblatt, who joined Wong and Lessons in Chemistry‘s Brie Larson in opting for grandeur at the SAG Awards.

A best actress nominee for The Crown, Elizabeth Debicki wore a gown that looked lighter than air, a custom Giorgio Armani Privé column dress in powder blue backless lace, which overlays a silk-chiffon lining embellished with crystals, while its tulle neckline is also embroidered with crystals. Ryan Gosling in Gucci

The best supporting actor nominee for Barbie opted for his go-to label, Gucci, looking equal parts elegant and relaxed in a pale blue single-breasted suit with white grosgrain detailing on the lapel.

America Ferrera in Dior Haute Couture

“It feels like a princess fairytale moment,” America Ferrera said of her black wool and silk crepe Dior Haute Couture gown, detailed with white silk organza at the shoulders. A member of the Barbie cast nominated for best ensemble in a movie, Ferrera paired the Dior gown with diamond jewels by De Beers.

Colman Domingo in Off-White

The best actor nominee for Rustin continues to push style boundaries with his red-carpet looks, including this blush pink tuxedo, a custom look by Off-White. On the carpet, Colman Domingo expressed his gratitude to stylists Wayman + Micah for guiding him through the awards season; the actor’s tux was finished with an Omega watch, Bulgari jewels and Christian Louboutin shoes.

Jennifer Aniston in Celine

The star of The Morning Show tends to turn up only for major events, and the combination of the Apple TV+ show earning a best ensemble nomination alongside Jennifer Aniston joining Bradley Cooper to present Barbra Streisand with her SAG Life Achievement Award certainly fit the bill. Aniston looked sleek and glamorous in a slip dress crafted of embroidered black chiffon silk by Celine by Hedi Slimane.

Ariana Greenblatt in Vera Wang

Velvet was a major trend on the SAG Awards red carpet, and that included the strapless gown worn by Barbie co-star Ariana Greenblatt, a custom design by Vera Wang Haute. On the carpet, Greenblatt noted that Wang sourced the fabric from Italy to ensure it was the perfect color — “I’m forever grateful,” she added. The actress paired the look with jewelry by Simon G. and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Reese Witherspoon in Elie Saab

Peaked strapless gowns likewise topped the trends at the SAG Awards, especially with side-ruching details that beautifully accented the body. That was certainly true of The Morning Show‘s Reese Witherspoon, whose crepe gown with draped bodice is from Elie Saab’s spring/summer 2024 collection. Brie Larson in Atelier Versace

On the carpet, Lessons in Chemistry nominee Brie Larson said her voluminous Atelier Versace look was inspired by a vintage photo she saw of supermodel Claudia Schiffer posing in front of an automobile: “It was really spectacular,” she told E!’s Laverne Cox. Larson got her wish as Donatella Versace reinvented the look for the actress to wear at the SAG Awards, which was finished with Jimmy Choo shoes.

Taylor Zakhar Perez in Louis Vuitton

The star of 2023’s Red, White & Royal Blue hasn’t appeared on many red carpets, but he’s already proven he possesses the potential to be a style star. The actor wore a beautifully fit navy double-breasted tuxedo jacket with matching pants, white shirt and black boots, as well as a Tambour watch in rose gold and stainless steel, all by Louis Vuitton.
