Sabrina Carpenter’s Bardot Bouffant Is a Coquette Dream

If you ask me, there’s a Gen-Z big three who never fail to provide beauty and style inspiration. Of course, there’s the OG, Emma Chamberlain, who we look to for quirky style inspo, life advice, and now high fashion moments. Then there’s Olivia Rodrigo, whose archival red carpet style is nothing short of iconic. And last, but certainly not least is Sabrina Carpenter, the hair queen of Gen-Z. Speaking of, we can’t take our eyes away from her latest hairstyle, a '60s-chic, fluffy, Bardot look that we’ll be recreating all spring.

On April 10, the “Feather” singer shared photos to her Instagram of what we’d guess are shots from the music video for her upcoming song, “Espresso.” While the first slide is the one that caught our eye, each picture has a different hairstyle and mood: The first sees Carpenter with a Bardot-style bouffant driving a boat, followed by a photo of her with crimped waves in the back of a car, and then playful pigtails at the beach. No matter what the shoot was for, the overall vibe felt vintage-inspired and playful, embodying Carpenter’s retro aesthetic perfectly.

While the singer's signature curtain bangs were on display, her '70s-inspired styling was particularly chic. She channeled Brigitte Bardot with face-framing voluminous layers that were pinned back to create a beehive half-updo. You know when you want to look like you did your hair, but not actually do it? That was the vibe of the look that was equal parts intentional and carefree.

The rest of her makeup was standard for the singer, consisting of a dramatic black lash, flushed glow on her cheeks, and a pink pout. Earlier this year, Carpenter's makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez told Byrdie the secret to her glowing complexion (PS: It's Armani Beauty!). Wardrobe-wise, she paired her look with a white dress from Frankies Bikinis that embodied the singer’s coquette style.

Carpenter has hit the ground running in 2024. Just a few weeks ago, the 24-year-old made her SKIMS debut in a campaign that showed off her signature bouncy hair in what was made to look like the bedroom of a 2000s It Girl. And this weekend, she's heading to the desert to play Coachella, surely with a cute hair look to match.
