Sabor Latino celebration returns: What you need to know, from food to how to go

Rhode Island Latino Arts will be celebrating its 35th anniversary with a special Sabor Latino celebration on Sept. 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Broad Street Gateway Center, 1197 Broad St. in South Providence.

Sabor Latino means “A Taste of Latino," and guests can expect a night filled with food, dancing and art.

A Taste of Food will offer samplings from local food trucks and restaurants including Casa Azúl Taquería, serving elótes (Mexican Street Corn) and aguas frescas (natural fruit drinks). The Blue Truck will offer Venezuelan cachapas and empanadas. Ada’s Creations will serve Cubanos, pastelitos, quipes and their Dominican cake. There will also be tropical drinks from Southside Smoothies.

A Taste of Latino Music will include live salsa to dance to by Jesús Andujar y Su Grupo Sazón and a bachata session by Bachata Como ‘Eh with Brandon.

A Taste of Latino Art will include local artists Retablos Palomino y Jiménez (Peruvian art), The Art of Pablo (prints and T-shirts) and Tamara Díaz (handmade art). They will also be selling "I Love Central Falls" T-shirts with original screen-printed designs. Families can also create art with René Gómez and Tamara Díaz.

Advance tickets cost $25, while walk-up tickets will be sold for $35 on the day of the event. They also offer family rates. Purchase tickets at rilatinoarts.org/SaborLatino.html or find more details.
