Shannon Esper Joins ‘Orange Is The New Black’; Tembi Locke In ‘The Magicians’

Shannon Esper has booked a recurring role on the upcoming fourth season of Netflix/Lionsgate TV prison drama, Orange Is The New Black. She will play Alana Dwight, a new inmate whose meek ways make her impossible to hate. The series, whose third season debuted on June 12, was created by Jenji Kohan and based on the book by Piper Kerman. In addition to acting, Esper is lead singer/front-woman of indie pop band The Echo Friendly whose debut hit “Same Mistakes” was featured on an episode of Girls on HBO. Her other credits include Law & Order: Criminal Intent and feature Not Fade Away. Esper is repped by Lillian LaSalle at Sweet 180.

Tembi Locke has joined the cast of Syfy’s drama series The Magicians, an adaptation of Leb Grossman’s bestselling fantasy book trilogy, as a recurring. She’s returning to the role of Dr. London that she played in the pilot. Produced by Universal Cable Prods, The Magicians follows 20-somethings who, while studying magic in New York, discover that the magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real and poses grave danger to humanity. Locke’s previous TV credits include NCIS and a series regular role on Eureka. She can most recently be seen in feature Dumb And Dumber 2. Locke is repped by Stone Manners Salners Agency and manager Bob McGowan.
