‘Roger Waters The Wall’ Has Global Event Cinema Release On The Horizon
EXCLUSIVE: Picturehouse Entertainment and Fathom Events have acquired international and U.S. rights, respectively, to Roger Waters The Wall. The film, which world premiered in Toronto last year, is an immersive concert experience of the classic Pink Floyd album and delivers an anti-war message from the band’s co-founder. Part road movie, it follows Waters as he travels through France and Italy, visiting war memorials that have personal resonance.
Written and directed by Waters and Sean Evans, the film, accompanied by an “in conversation” with Waters, will have a global event cinema release on September 29 at 7:30 PM in each time zone. Tickets will go on sale in the summer.
The concert portion of the film was shot in 4K and mixed in Dolby Atmos during Waters’ sold-out 2010-13 “The Wall Live” tour. The shows were seen by more than 1.5M in North America, 1M across Latin and Central America and 1M in Europe. It was the biggest worldwide tour by a solo artist ever.
“We were a big family on the road, 189 of us, give or take the odd Snoozy Walrus,” Waters says. “We were happy, by and large, and I am really happy to welcome everyone at Fathom and Picturehouse aboard. I know, I know — mixing metaphors. Where was I? Oh yeah, with your help, this coming 29th September will be the perfect way to remember not just our loved ones but the other guys loved ones — fallen, living, and as yet unborn.”
